The piano is my home as a musician.
Although I spend evenings at the piano all the time as a bar pianist, it was somehow lost to me as a free, creative solo instrument. As a teenager, I spent many hours freely improvising at the piano: just strumming, as a pastime and soul-wellness.
In 2022 I turned forty, and strangely enough, with all the accumulated musician knowledge, experience and concepts, it suddenly seemed impossible to just sit down at the piano and play what the fingers would like to play. This brought me back to my roots: seeing the piano as a playmate. Just playing for the sake of playing. Without a goal or concerns about whether the result is good enough to be heard.
So back to the roots now - but this time hitting the recording button.
